It Ain't Shakespeare Makes a Splash at SeaWorld's New Waterfront Orlando, Florida, July 2003 SeaWorld Orlando recently unveiled The Waterfront, the largest expansion in its 30-year history. But long before the opening, It Ain't Shakespeare pulled into port to help create the sights, sounds, and spirit of the sea. It Ain't Shakespeare, an Orlando creative consulting company, worked with an outsourced team of independent creative producers to write a boatload of entertainment for the new seaport-themed attraction. Colette Piceau, president of It Ain't Shakespeare, says her company wrote all three of the Waterfront's new live stage shows - Kat 'n Kaboodle, a celebration of exotic cats from around the world; Rico 'n ' Roza's Musical Feast, a spicy melting pot of food and fun at the Seafire Inn; and the Makahiki Luau, a musical tour of Polynesian cultures and traditions. "It was a great experience, working with the creative teams on all the shows," says Piceau. "The show directors and music composers were exceptional collaborators." It Ain't Shakespeare began work on the ambitious project last fall and has remained fully involved through the Memorial Day opening. Piceau and associate, Adam Berger, also wrote The Waterfront Almanac, a comprehensive, themed "Branded Manual," designed to motivate and inspire the performance of front-line employees, and maintain the flavor and atmosphere of the Waterfront. The Branded Manual, a specialty of It Ain't Shakespeare, encourages employees to stay "in character" so they can create the richest possible experience for guests. The manual features fascinating storylines, architectural histories, and provides employees with a menu of witty replies to guest questions. "The Waterfront Almanac immerses employees in nautical themes, as well as giving them interesting bits of history, sea-faring trivia, and mythology," says Piceau. "That's why our clients have been so enthusiastic about our Branded Manuals. If we can engage their employees, they'll make every guest's experience vibrant and exciting." |
